Salvation by works

There has been a problem with a pernicious doctrine of “salvation by works” sneaking into church. European Protestants broke away from the Roman Catholic church over that.

Helpers, assistants, deacons, and rectors start showing up in church with a deceptively “simple” Christian work ethic. They purport to support, house, feed, and clothe large families on their unskilled labor. Consequently they demand a lot of money for their work to finance their way of life and the way of life they impose on others by a railroad court process.

There’s a Christian Democrat Union, and a Christian Socialist Union in the European Union. The problem is that Democrats aren’t Christians. Man cannot be saved by his works or by joining a chain-gang labor union. God’s Law demands absolute perfection in all things, and man’s work is not perfect; the imperfect works of humankind cannot satisfy God’s righteous Law.

For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

— Romans 1:27

There is a suggestion of homosexuality in this Bible passage, but we need to look for a deeper meaning, because real consummated acts of homosexuality are rare, unusual, and unlikely to be satisfying to the prevailing or natural desires of most human beings.

What we have here is women who become estranged from their husbands and families and then they walk the streets and do favors or work odd or undesirable jobs. Meanwhile the men leave their wives at home and join the labor union to work in exclusively male professions, and obviously they desire (or “burn”) to cooperate and achieve something in some measure in collaboration with other men, and they are looking for some kind of “recompence” or wages for their work, and it’s all very carefully cultured and appropriate at the time, but the Bible condemns those works. What ungodly men worked for and sought in error is denied to them.
